Categories
Novice
Novice is a first time competitor. All groups must be 75% novice. Failure to comply with be disqualified from overall awards.
Categories are to be entered in the registration by the studio director. It is the studio directors responsibility to ensure categories accurately reflect the competition guidelines.
Pre-Competitive
Dancers who train 7 hours or less weekly combined in all dance styles. Solos/Duets/Trios must be 100% pre-competitive. All other entries must be 75% or higher to qualify as pre-competitive.
Competitive
Dancers who train 8 or more hours weekly combined in all dance styles.
High School
Routines that entered through a high school group.
SUPERSTAR CATEGORY
The Superstar Category was established in our first season in 2018 for dancers who face physical challenges and are met with special abilities. These entries still receive positive commentary from the judges and are equally included in their award session.

ROUTINE RULES
ROUTINE TRICKS

All dance styles may have 3 acro tricks in total with the exception of: Acrobatics, Open (8 tricks), & Production. Routines should stay true to style and should honor the dance genre's roots. However, we encourage creativity and modernized routines to our competition stage. 1 mark will be deducted should any of these routines reach over the maximum limit of tricks.
MUSIC RULES

Music must be age appropriate and contain no vulgar words, inappropriate topics or subjects deemed non family friendly.
Music is to be uploaded via Dance Comp Genie two weeks prior to the competition.
Music should be cut and finalized before uploading.
All music should be reviewed and listened to once uploaded to ensure no errors were made.
Destiny Dance Competition is not responsible for the errors made in music uploading, studios review all of their music accordingly.
TIME LIMITS

Solo, Duet, Trio :3 minutes
Small Group: 4 minutes
Large Group & Line : 4.5 minutes
Extended Line: 6 minutes
Production: 12 minutes
*Any routines that require longer times on stage should connect with the competition in advance (1 month minimum) to make appropriate arrangements. Additional fees will apply.
GENERAL RULES
Studio directors are responsible for ensuring all entries are registered accurately, including age, competitive level, and dance style. Any misrepresentation may result in reclassification, score adjustments, or disqualification at the discretion of Destiny Dance Competition.
If a performance does not take place during its scheduled time, Destiny Dance Competition will make every effort to accommodate the routine before the next adjudication. However, rescheduling is not guaranteed.
Destiny Dance Competition is not responsible for registration errors submitted by studios. No refunds will be issued due to incorrect entries. Adjustments may be made on-site where possible, but are not guaranteed.
Age divisions are determined by the dancer’s age as of December 31, 2025. It is the responsibility of the studio to ensure all dancers are entered in the correct age division.
All routines must be entered in the appropriate category based on style and group size. Destiny Dance Competition reserves the right to reclassify any routine if deemed necessary.
Destiny Dance Competition reserves the right to combine or split categories based on the number of entries at each event.
Music must be uploaded through your studios Dancebug account by the deadline set-forth in your final schedule email. Studios are required to have a backup copy of all music readily available at the competition.
Time limits must be adhered to for all routines. Any routine exceeding the allotted time may be subject to point deductions or adjudication only.
All performers must be ready backstage at least 3 routines prior to their scheduled performance time.
Changes to registrations (including dancer substitutions, routine title changes, or category adjustments) must be submitted by the deadline provided. Limited changes may be accommodated on-site at the discretion of the competition.
Incomplete or unpaid registrations will not be scheduled.
